A new pair of bicycling sunglasses designed by Nike and ready to revolutionise the industry is in the concept stage. Named the Nike Hindsight they are said to allow cyclists to see further behind them into their peripheral vision thanks to the Fresnel lenses on the sides of the glasses.

The field of vision created by these lenses is increased 25 degrees beyond the norm sith high power, diverging Fresnel zones aligned vertically that distort the view that extra distance.

The benefits of such a pair of sunglasses are that the cyclist will be able to detect movement in their periphery much earlier than otherwise. Approaching vehicles coming in from side-streets of from behind would be seen earlier giving the cyclist much more awareness assisting safety tremendously.

As mentioned at the start, these sunglasses are still in the concept stage so they don’t yet exist. But it’s a design concept that is so simple to manufacture that one can’t see it being too far away from reality.
