Copper Headstones Stolen

Another day, another story about the theft of metal from a cemetery. This isn’t an insignificant figure we’re talking about here.

this time thieves have walked away with 90 copper headstones worth over $100,000. When I say "walked away" obviously I meant loaded them into a truck and drove them away. 90 copper headstones would take some serious planning and muscle, one would think. The theft took place at Forest Lawn in Cypress, Los Angeles and they were taken out of storage at the Orange County Cemetery.

It wasn’t until they showed up at a recycling centre that they were traced back to the cemetery.

This comes on the back of the stories I was following last week about scrap metal thieves hitting cemeteries around San Francisco. The scale of this latest theft drives home the fact that this is not a small scale industry, these days.

I’m sure there will be more to come.
